Our view from up and down the corridor, they had army guys and girls patrolling the floor.
Just hangin' out on our lovely air mattress, at least we didn't have to sleep on cots!
Fun title, eh? I know that all of you are probably more interested in seeing pictures of the baby than the latest escapades of Ryan and Melissa, but I promise to post some baby pics. later on today. That being said, some of you may have heard there have been fires in San Diego lately. It's a pretty minor news story really! (All in jest, of course!) Let me go ahead and paint the picture for you. Last Monday I was getting ready to go to my Dr.'s appointment to get a non-stress test and ultrasound. As I was getting ready I was listening to the radio. They were talking about how the fires in San Diego had been spreading and getting much more intense. This caused me some degree of worry. (Understatement of the year!) Nevertheless and notwithstanding I needed to go to this Dr.'s appointment. At the appointment there was yet more bad news, my cervix was still crappy and the baby still hadn't dropped. The Dr. told Ryan and I that the best option was a c-section, which was yet more really bad news. Once Ryan and I got home we started packing up our important belongings, pictures, 72 hour kit, important documents, etc. and getting ready in case we did have to evacuate. Then we sat down and decided the c-section was best. I called the Dr. and scheduled it for Friday the 26th and felt good about that. Fast forward to the next day (last Tuesday), the fires were much worse and getting much closer to us. I was totally freaking out! We were watching the news 24 hours a day and waiting to hear what we needed to do. Finally the bad news (yes, that's more bad news people!) that we needed to evacuate came. We were told that we needed to go to Qualcomm stadium, which is where the San Diego Chargers play. We were a little bit excited really, because we had seen stories on the news about how great people were being treated there. We're talking massages, counseling, medical services, an overabundance of food, good times. We arrived there early last Tuesday evening. Considering our circumstances, they put us right by the medical triage area. We set up our air mattress and camped out. Eveyone was extremly nice to us and the news had been right, it was all very well organized and put together. Fast forward to last Wednesday morning. I'm exhausted, because I think I got about 30 minutes of sleep total the night before. (A bright light shining in my eyes and loud and/or sick people running around doesn't make for a great night's sleep, especially for a people watcher such as myself!) So it's about 10:30 in the a.m. and I just zonk out. I am awoken by Ryan, who has just spoken to our Dr. on the phone. He told Ryan that we needed to get out of Qualcomm because the air conditions there were definitely not good for me or the baby girl and that we needed to come in and have a c-section that very day. I of course started to bawl my eyes out and pretty much have a panic attack. After I calmed down a bit I knew that it was a good decision. Ryan and I went home (pretty smoky air, but other than that our apartment was the same as we had left it.) and took showers, drove to the hospital and had our baby. I know this whole story sounds like I totally made it up, but it's really all true. When Adeline gets older we are going to have the most crazy story to tell her about the events that took place before her birth! I can't imagine anything more dramatic! Sorry that it was such a long story, but believe it or not this was the condensed version!
P.S. The funniest and yet somehow not funny at all part about this whole incident was that they made a mistake when they sent out the evacuation notice for the area that we live in and we never really needed to evacuate at all. And no, I'm not kidding!

I'm glad you put pictures up because I imagined something totally different. It really is a great story. Ady will love to hear about it when she's older. Is she wearing that cute Halloween outfit yet??? I'll be looking for her pictures...:)
Um...that's a fun story, but can we get more pictures please? HAHA, j/k. I really do want to see more pictures but that story is way too fun to not tell. People at work are telling THEIR friends about it. Did you read the comment from the girl on my blog when I wrote about it? She said she thinks her Dad is your Stake Pres.
It's a great story. I'm glad your water didn't break there, although that would have been a good story too. Best news is that Adeline came into the world healthy, and Ryan didn't trick you into naming her RAM (Ryan Andrew Mills) Charger, or Qualcomm, or something of that nature.
I hope you write the story in her journal!
Joce, yeah I saw that post from your friend. That's really weird, you'll have to find out what his name is. (Not like I know the name of our stake president anyway!)
This is the best worst story ever. I hope your life is very uneventful for the next several years. I think you have earned it.
When I tell people that story second hand, they don't believe it, so it's definitely worth telling. I'm just glad you and Ryan are both safe and that the cutest baby is here! I can't wait to see you guys. Seriously, we are counting down the days now! And p.s., could I please have our mom back or else ship her dog there?
I'm glad to hear your more realistic version of the Qualcom experience. I've only talked to Ryan who seemd to savor the time spent there. When I called John to tell him about his brother's predicament of having to stay at Qualcom with his week past-due wife, John's response was,"So, did he get to see the field?" My response to that was, "??what??" The VERY next time I spoke to Ryan, his first comment was, "So I took a 20 second film of the field!!" Seeing a football field must be some sort of spiritual experience to men. ??? I'm glad all turned out so well!! See you soon!
I love Jessica's comment. She cracks me up. So, now that her Mom is on her way home, my Mom is leaving. I wonder where her dog is going. I should probably find out tonight. I'm sure Melissa won't want Daisy to visit yet. :)
