Okay, so as many of you know I am a big fan of Food Network. Mostly because it's one of like 11 channels that we actually have. Lately I've seen a lot of the hosts of various shows on Food Network making red velvet cake. This intrigues me, because I've never had red velvet cake. Has anyone reading had it? If so, is it good or gross? I think I want to try it, but if it's sick then I won't bother. Your opinions are welcome here!

I've never tried it, but when I watch wedding shows and they go cake tasting they always seem to like it. I wonder if it has an acquired taste though. If you find out it tastes good, let me know.
We went to the cupcake place- Sprinkles- and we ordered a red velvet cupcake and it was delicious

I really like Red Velvet but I don't know if I see you liking it. You should definitely at least try it thouogh. It seems right up Ryan's alley.
Never had it but Valentine's Day sounds like the perfect time to try it!
It's been a while, but I remember is just being a good cake. I think I will try it for valentine's this year, as suggested by "juli and erik".
It is absolutley delish Melissa! I LOVE it! You have to make it exactly right for it to turn out the way you want, so I suggest that you try it from somewhere first. But it is heaven!
It's not my favorite.
It's like a mild chocolate flavor. I only put in a little bit of food coloring though, and then make it pink velvet. Too much food coloring grosses me out. I like it.
Isn't it really just devils food cake with red food coloring added to it? Since the food coloring doesn't have any flavor, I don't get it. I'd rather eat a Hostess cupcake. By the way--VOTE FOR MITT!
Anything with frosting gets my vote.
