I'm sorry to do yet another post about a trip, because I know it won't be that interesting to that many people. However, it was such a nice trip. We were able to go and visit my family for a few days (I wish it could have been a few days more, actually!) and the visit was almost a surprise for my sister Jessica's birthday. However, my niece (Jessica's daughter) who is not known for her great secret keeping skills spilled the beans before we got there. It was no big deal though, because we still had great fun celebrating Jess's b-day with her. A few other highlights of the trip were:
We were able to spend lots of time doing fun stuff with my family, Ryan and I were able to do a session at the Las Vegas temple, we went to church in our old ward and saw many friends and their cute babies, we went to lunch at Cafe Rio (AKA, my heaven on earth!) with some of said friends and their cute baby boy, we went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings (AKA, Ryan's heaven on earth!) with a girl that served as a sister missionary in our old ward when Ryan was the ward mission leader, I took Addy to the school I used to teach at where she was fussed over by all my teacher buddies and eating a huge a** dessert (refer to pictures below) at Claim Jumper's.
We had such a fun time with my family and Addy was so happy the whole time we were there. She loved all the attention from my niece, Ana. She also loved being entertained by all of Ana's old baby toys that we pulled out. The weather was very non-Las Vegasy while we were there. It was monsoon season, so there was quite a bit of rain and humidity. I didn't mind at all though, we still had a great time and can't wait to come back soon for another visit!

In case there was any question, this was the dessert I was referring to above. Isn't it unbelievable? It was a gigantic (as if I even need to say that!) eclair with ice cream underneath it and whip cream all around it. Jessica's direct quote to our waiter when he brought it out was, "What the HELL is that?" We finished maybe 1/4 of it between the 2 of us.
As you can tell from the picture, we are both shocked and alarmed by the enormity of it all!

Okay cute pictures in general but the dessert is HILARIOUS!!!!! It's one of those "must try" things I think (but with a bigger group of people to share it! ;-)
You have the cutest sister and baby ever!
"Well I Declair! What the HELL is that???"
So very excited that we're coming there next week. Hooray, hooray and HOOOOO-RAY!
And that picture of us was taken at Whole Foods on my b-day, the day we had lunch there.
I'm glad we got to say hi when you were here...Your baby is even cuter in real life!!!
