A tale of a rude homeless man!
I have so much catching up to do on this blog and yet I keep getting sidetracked in my posts. I did want to share this story about a man I met today at Sprouts market. I saw him as I was going in and had the strong suspicion that he wanted something. As a result I avoided all eye contact with him. Sadly, upon exiting guess who was right near my car and approached me? He told me some sad story about how he just got home from the navy and had two teenage daughters at home and didn't have any money, etc. I'm a sucker for a sob story and I'm not a good liar either, so I caved and opened my wallet. I never carry cash with me, but had a whole bunch of change. I clearly stated this to him, no cash only change. So I hand him what was probably about $2.00 in change. Here was what he said to me, "That's all ya got?" Really, who says that? You are allegedly homeless and begging for money sir! I almost felt like taking the change right back out of his hand and saying, "Nevermind, no change for you mister!" As the saying goes, "Beggars can't be choosers." Apparently this beggar was very choosy and rude! Don't you all think?

That is why I hate helping homeless people. I know it sounds so rude and my sister and I fight about this all the time but I don't believe them. I think a lot of them are fakers and I think for most of them it is a choice. If he really needed money or food, he would have been grateful for change. What a punk!
Some lady approached me outside Henry's Market once. I didn't have any cash on me and told her that if I did, I would've given her some. She had the audacity to point at an ATM machine and tell me I could get some out of there! When I said "that's okay" she started going off about how I had lied about giving her the money if I had any. I was so angry.
It's those types that make it difficult for you to believe those who are in real need.
wow, what an ingrate. did i ever tell you about the "deaf" man in target going around with a clip board asking people for money to help get a trained dog to help him. only after i gave him money and came home did i realize that deaf people don't use dogs...blind people do. and faking being deaf would be a very easy thing to do. you just don't talk and point to what's written on your clipboard. how annoying.
It is people like that that make it so hard for the people who really do need our help. I am usually happy to give someone my change, but I would have been so mad to have that said to me as well! I probably would have called him on it. Every time I am out in the "world" I see the way people treat each other, and I have to work hard and remind myself that most people are wonderful good people. Oblivous, but good.
Addicts are not known for their social skills and honesty. The next time you see a man standing by your car, I think you should get someone from the store to help you safely get in the car. Too many wackos abound!
I'm with Gma Mills. While you were fishing around for change, he could've hit you over the head and grabbed your purse, or something worse! BE CAREFUL!!
