Ry's 27th Birthday!

Yesterday was Ry's 27th birthday and we were able to go do lots of fun stuff. We decided that instead of taking Addy to a babysitter, we would do stuff during the day and take her along for the ride. Ryan started out the morning with a delightful breakfast of french toast and eggs. I should mention that I made only the french toast and not the eggs. In my opinion eggs are one of the grossest things on the planet! It all stems from a traumatic egg experience I had as a child, but that's a story for a different time. After breakfast we got ready and then went to Fashion Valley, so that Ryan could buy himself some stuff with the gift card his parents sent. We then headed to a BBQ place near Newport Beach where Ryan was able to enjoy some pork ribs and I of course had chicken fingers. (I was really going outside the box on that one, right? Not so much!) It was a good place to eat and we enjoyed it. After that we went to see "Prince Caspian" at the movie theatre. We were a bit nervous about taking Addy to a movie, but she did quite well. At one point she even feel asleep, which was truly surprising! It was actually a very good movie, much better than the first Narnia movie. After Addy went to bed Ryan opened presents, we had birthday cake and then ate dinner around 9:30. We had so much food at lunch, that we weren't hungry until quite late. Ryan requested that I buy stuff to make a really good deli sandwiches and stuff to make cherry limeades. (our favorite drink ever!) Both turned out to be really good! We both had a great time celebrating Ry's birthday. I feel so grateful to be married to a man who deserves to be celebrated everyday! I love you Ry!

Enjoying the pork ribs, in a rather gross mannner!

Lucky for us, this was what Addy looked like the whole time we were eating lunch!

Addy and Ry after the movie, she seems to be back into the sticking her tounge out phase!

Stuffing his face with cake! It was a strawberry cake with real strawberries on top and in the middle and cream cheese frosting, quite delightful!

These were our make-shift party hats. Actually I cut off a pair of pajama bottoms and made them into shorts and these were the left overs. I looked totally drunk in each of these pictures, which I guess could have something to do with me wearing pajama bottoms on my head!

Ryan with his loot!

Ryan showing his sandwich some love!

Happy b-day to Ryan! I had no idea. Jessica probably made him a homemade card and mailed a present, and my gift to him is a blog comment one day late. I'll never be the favorite sis-in-law I guess. It looks like you guys had a fun day. I take it he didn't have school? Is he done for the summer already?

Happy Birthday Ry. It looks like you had a fun day. You have one nice wife, I hope you remember that. She doesn't only remember your birthday, she celebrates it with you! I think the picture of Addy sticking her tongue out is great..she must have a little Mills in her.

Oh, you don't look drunk, you look happy like you are married to someone you can just be fun and silly with. Good job. Also,I am so glad to have a great use for the bottom half of some sweat pants I turned into shorts the other day (for my kids of course . . . certainly no adult would ever wear such a thing. Oops.)

Ryan's gifts were a Wii Zapper, a book about baseball, a gift certificate for a mini-facial (my idea, not his!) and some Axe spray. I also bought him a card that plays the opening music to Star Wars. (not at all nerdy, I know!)

I hope he had a happy day and that he got my little token of love! Sounds like you did it up right. I also hope that he turns into one of those guys in the Axe spray commercials. SCANDALOUS!

Are those your napping pajamas made into hats? If so, I'm going to be really sad! I miss those good old napping days.

I wanted to add how cool of a birthday Melissa gave me. Throughout the day she randomly put slips of paper around the house that had reasons for why she loved me. By the end of the day she gave me 27 reasons (for my age), and the last ten or so she put on my presents.

I'm a very lucky man.

I was wondering what those little slips of paper were on top of the gifts. Now I know and your way too nice Melissa.

So, no mention of my killer card now huh?
