Very Disappointing!
My sister-in-law Kelly sent me an e-mail last week to inform me that Baskin Robbins was offering 31 cent ice cream. Yesterday was the day that it was being offered and they were only doing it from 5-10 pm. I had this whole plan in mind of how Addy and I would go down there and get a few scoops of some super cheap ice cream. My plans were thwarted when we reached Baskin-Robbins around 5:10 and there were about 30 plus people waiting in line for ice cream. And you know that when ice cream is being offered for that cheap people aren't going to just buy 1 scoop, they're gonna be loadin' up on all the ice cream they can stuff their face with! In other words I would have been in line for about an hour waiting. If I was by myself I probably would have braved the ice cream loving masses. Since Addy was with me and usually tends to start getting quite cranky right around 5:30 for her bedtime I figured I better ditch the plans. I can't tell you how truly disappointed I was about the whole situation. For some reason whenever things like this occur I have this secret hope in my head that I am one of only a small handful of people that hear about it, thus coming out victorious and pigging out on some delicious ice creamy goodness. It reminds me of the time when I was teaching and some of my teacher friends and I heard that this local radio station was giving away free school supplies at this teacher supply store in town. It was the beginning of the school year and we were so excited about the news, (I know how nerdy to be excited about school supplies, but when your a teacher and earn peanuts for salary anything free is the best!) but when we arrived I almost wanted to cry. Much to our dismay there were no less than 200 other teachers in line waiting to get their supplies. I guess it serves me right for getting my hopes up when it comes to such things, only to have my dreams of ice cream and school supplies shattered!

I was really excited about it too, but since it was our anniversary we had dinner and show plans. I was trying to figure out someway to fit it in between dinner and our show, but I couldn't make it work. It's probably better anyway since it sounds like everyone in the world was there! I'm sad for you though. Did you go buy different ice cream at the store or something to cheer yourself up?
I'm sorry you didn't get the ice cream....it's just the good deal you missed, you should have just gone an bought some yummy Dreyers, and called it good.
What a bummer! I totally forgot about it. We went last year and got ice cream when this deal was going on. I think I got two scoops because it equaled one normal scoop. They end up giving you the tiny kiddie sized ice cream. But what do you expect when it's .31 cents? You should take Kelly's advice and get some yummy ice cream at the grocery store.
I'm all for the 2 pints for $6 of Ben & Jerry's. My time is worth more to me than waiting in line...
Too bad that you didn't get any Snickohs though.
I'm with Gracie. It is all about time. Makes me want some chocolate malted crunch from Thrifty's but I think Thrifty's was bought out by ?? so who knows if that ice cream is still around. I do like reading your blog. I like the way you write and title your blogs.
So sad. It reminds me a little of this tiny place in the middle of LA that my sister-in-law took us to because they always sold 25 cent ince cream cones. The only scary thing was, it was basically like the Seinfeld "soup nazi" if you are familiar with that episode -- if you weren't right ready with your flavor choice and your quarter, if you took a moment hesitating or were intimidated by how serious they were, it was like, "NO Icecream for you!!"
If you buy Dreyer's Light Ice Cream Bars--Vanilla w/Nestle Crunch, you'll be able to forget all about missing out on the B.R. deal. You might even say they're "like dessert!"
I am sorry for you lose! Cheap, GOOD ice cream is somthing that you just can't help but get your hopes up!
