Advice needed!

I am NOT fond of people giving me unsolicited advice (i.e. "When my kid was that age, blah, blah, blah..."), but I am fond of getting solicited advice. That being said, I am looking for some solicited advice in 3 totally different areas:
Area #1:
I think that Addy is ready to start potty training. I on the other hand, am a little freaked out about it. Mostly because it seems like a really tough process for so many. So I would appreciate advice from any of you seasoned potty trainers out there! How did you potty train your daughter? Do tell!
Area #2:
Our shower has vinyl flooring, you know the kind with the raised circles? I've never cleaned a shower with that type of floor before and would appreciate some help. I've tried using my normal Comet cleaner with a scrub brush and didn't feel like that worked so well. Anyone have this type of floor in their shower too and know of a good way to clean it?
Area #3:
I'm looking for a good pair of jeans. Not something super expensive. But something more in the range of Gap jeans or cheaper. And please nothing low rise! (Not a good look for this lady!) Anyone bought any jeans lately that you can recommend?

Any advice in any of these areas would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for the help!

*On a side note, but also jean/clothing related, how on earth are the 80's back in style again? The 80's were seriously the worst clothing/hair decade ever! I don't get it at all? When I went to the Gap website and found denim vests were one of the feature items I couldn't understand it! I haven't owned a denim vest since about 9th grade and I think it should stay that way. Any thoughts?

I'm TOTALLY with you on the 80s look. I don't get it. Anyway, as far as jeans go, I LOVE my American Eagle jeans. I have 2 pairs and my favorite are the true boot. I love the way they fit and I think they're flattering. They might be a little pricey (I haven't bought them for a long time) but you know me. I only paid 10 bucks for them.

Potty training: my advice would be, don't do it. I cringe just thinking about how I'm going to have to do that again. I'm sorry, I should just erase that. That's not the kind of support you need. I'm sure London would be more than willing to come over and show Addy how it's done.

i haaaate unsolicited advice. who likes it? i don't think anyone does.

anyway, no advice on potty training (obviously since i've never done it) and no advice on the cleaning either (since i'm definitely no good at that). but i do really like jcrew's denim. the matchstick style is the one i like, but it's also the only one i've ever tried on.

Ok so I went to Nordstrom and tried on a bajillion different jeans with a sales person and told her the style I was looking for and I wanted it to be flattering and I was going to go look online for them cheaper but they were only $55 and they hemmed them for me for fee!

So that is my advice. Also, if you take a pair of old jeans to gap to recycle this week through the 14th you get 30% off anything denim

I soaked my floor in a bleach/water solution for a few stinky hours and it came up. That's the best luck I've had.

The only thing I've ever used that actually cleans showers is Lysol bathroom cleaner. Target has it. I'll swear by this for life. Spray it on, wait about 5-10 minutes and scrub it off (I just use a sponge). The smell is a little strong. But seriously, it takes off all the grimey build up. (I spray bleach on any mold though)

No advice for the other ones.

I had great luck with the whole potty training endeavor; my advice is to check out Pottywise by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam. Their whole method is working with a reward system, but the child doesn't just get rewarded for going potty, they are also rewarded for STAYING DRY and CLEAN. This way, it keeps mom in the driver's seat even when the child has lost interest. They suggest picking a time when you can totally concentrate on potty training and only potty training for two or three days. (That means no trips to the grocery store, no playdates, etc.) I had Ty pretty well potty trained in two days. And it really was not the nightmare that I was expecting.
Good luck!
