Originally I was planning on having a huge birthday bash for Cohen's first birthday, but decided on a small party. The main reason being, we decided to go to Disneyland with family instead. Which I think was a great choice! Mainly because then I don't have the crazy amount of stress that comes for me with throwing a party. Not to mention how excited we all are for this trip to Disneyland! Anyway, Cohen's first birthday party was a lot of fun! We had just one family that we are good friends with come over to celebrate with us. We kept it simple and did pizza for dinner. Since I had already semi started planning Cohen's big party, I bought a really cute little monster banner (which was on clearance for $1 at Target, I might add!) that we ended up putting up. I also made a monster cake, which I was quite pleased with. Cake decorating is not something that I really ever attempt and quite frankly it scares me. So drawing a little monster on top of a cake seemed a simple enough first step into cake decorating and it worked out pretty well. Also I loved the little candy eyeballs that I found, they were very monster like to me! Mostly the cake tasted good, so that's all I care about! Anyway, we had a very fun and low key evening and I think Cohen had a fun time which is what is most important!
Such a funny, open mouthed picture of him!

Only a little messy...
Super duper messy...
In a cake coma! As a matter of fact he ate so much cake that he threw up a little bit afterwards. Luckily it was on Ryan, not on me!
One night when we were at Target, Ryan showed Cohen this baby Ernie doll and he LOVED it! It sneezes and talks and it always makes him smile!
These were some pictures I took a day or two after his birthday, with the bubble machine that he got as a gift. He doesn't really care about the bubbles, but loves putting rocks on top of it and knocking it over!
Eating dirt and grass, such a boy!
