Addy's First Day

To celebrate Addy's first day of kindergarten (which was last Monday) she got to decide what we would have for dinner the night before. She requested hot dogs, tater tots, apple slices and carrots. She has quite the fancy taste, right? Pretty cute that she requested something so simple to make. We did have fancy cups and napkins, which dressed up the table a bit. I thought she would love it if she came and sat down to a smiley face plate, but I was quite wrong. She was not a fan! She's such a funny girl, I'm never really sure what she's going to like or totally dislike!

After dinner we did a couple of small gifts and a card. I bought her a book about school. All summer long we've been working on writing her letters and had made it through every letter in the alphabet. So her other gift was those alphabet pages she's worked on, compiled into a book. Nothing too fancy, but she liked it.

After opening presents, we talked her into doing a fashion show. She picked out this outfit for her first day. At first, we were instructed that there would be no clapping or cheering as she modeled for us.

But then she started dancing and warmed up to the idea of us clapping and cheering for her...

and then there was running..

and a whole lot more dancing and posing. She LOVED it!

Her first day was actually more of an orientation, with the parents there. It was only an hour long and I was glad, because it gave us the chance to take plenty of pictures at her school. Her teacher, Mrs. Fuentes read the kids The Kissing Hand and then had them do a couple of little projects. It was really cute! I was glad I was able to be there with her on her first day.

Her teacher had each of the kids give her a hug or a high five, Addy picked the hug

Now that we've established a good morning routine things are going great and Addy is loving kindergarten!

OH my goodness you do such cute little things with your kids! I love how special you made her first day. Only is she really 5? I swear she can't be! I keep sort of picturing her as . . . 3 or 4. Crazy.

I haven't checked out your blog in a few months. I'm so jealous that Addy was able to start school, Zarina has to wait until next year, but since we moved that's probably a good thing. Anyways, your kids look great! I think Cohen has more hair than Poppy and he is sooo cute. I love Addy's modeling!
