Good Post vs. Bad Post
Do you ever write a post on your blog that you think is a really great and/or interesting and think to yourself, "Man I'm gonna get lots of comments on this one!" (Conceited, yes!) Then hardly anyone or no one at all leaves any comments. When this happens, I really try not to take it personally but for some reason I still do. I tend to go through a whole process of scrutinizing the post, thinking things such as, "Maybe it was too long, maybe it was too short, not funny enough, too boring for people to want to read, the pictures were lame, etc. (I know, I'm a weirdo! It's this strange need that I have for validation through people leaving me comments.) Or sometimes the opposite scenario happens when you think, "Man, this post is pretty lame, but oh well maybe at least my mom or my sister will leave me a pity comment." Then every Tom, Dick and Harry leaves a comment. (Yes, I did just use that expression!) Then you feel a big pick me up in your self confidence, like you've done something so great! I guess in the end it serves me right when I receive little to no comments, because I tend to get a tad too rapped up in the blogging world (understatement of the year!) and prideful about some of my posts.

Ok, so I love your posts and want to comment only I read them in google reader so I'm too lazy to click through to your blog and actually do it! I am such a bad commenter now! I will try to be better though. I know what you mean and I feel the same way.
Melissa, step away from the computer...
Just kidding, I actually think this is funny. Must be those funny pills! :)
I am with you sister. When I have a good post and get few comments I am like, "that's it, you are all the worst people EVER!!" For example, my golden and precious disposal post only YOU have commented on . . . how can this be?? Who doesn't love to laugh and read and cry over kitchen garbage disposals. Sigh, sometimes the world is just all wrong, isn't it.
On a good note, before I had a blog of my own, I would read friend's blogs and it never really occurred to me that I ought to comment. I think it is only when you have a blog of your own that your realize how precious little comments are . . . so I am CERTAIN there are hundreds of loved ones out there reading and loving your posts but oblivious to the fact that a nice comment is due your way.
totally agree with this entire post. thanks for loving that jacket! i am in LOVE with it too. it is juicy and i got it at nordies a couple weeks ago. (however, it was on sale then and i just tried to find it online and couldnt...... maybe you will have better luck) :)
Just because people don't make comments, doesn't mean they don't like your blog offerings! I don't always take the time to leave a comment, even when I love what you've posted--so there.
Melissa Melissa Melissa....we still love you even when we don't post. Just consider it a compliment when people look at your blog...I do it every day, several times a day...from Huntington Beach..(my little joke)
I agree. I think people who don't have blogs don't comment ever because they feel awkward for looking at it. That's how I used to be. I agree though, comments definitely give you validation.
Has your blog become an idol that you worship? Huh? Has it, has it?
Here's your stinkin' comment and you'd better be appreciative!
And please don't ever use the phrase, "Every Tom, Dick & Harry" again. Soooo, soooo creepy!
