As a 12 year old girl I went on a hike that has come to be known as "The Hike from Hell." It was given this title by my mom, my sister Jessica and me. Due in part to the fact that about 2 miles into the hike I fell and cut my hand on a sharp, jagged rock (don't ask me why we didn't turn back at this point?) and ended up having to get stitches. Amongst many other terrible things that occurred while we went on said hike. Anyway, while visiting Napa for Christmas Ryan wanted to go hiking. My mother-in-law was kind enough to watch Addy who was feeling quite under the weather while we made our trek. We went with 2 of Ryan's sisters and their kids and also with 2 of my sister-in-law Kristen's boys. I felt very out of shape and was bringing up the rear most of the time. Despite me being out of shape, it was a great time! We were able to have a lovely picnic lunch, see lots of beautiful scenery, listen to Ryan's nephew tell us fascinating (and somewhat fabricated) facts and work off some of the 5 lbs. of fudge we had all eaten previously. A good time was had by all!

Isn't this lovely? This was what we found at the end of our hike.

Ryan's little nephew Max was such the little trooper. He just hung out in this backpack most of the time and didn't make so much as a fuss! Cute little fella!
