Back in July I was just minding my own business, driving to Kara's house to watch our favorite show "So You Think You Can Dance?" As I got off the freeway there was a light that I would swear on my life was yellow as I went through the intersection. Sadly, the camera that took my picture swore that the light was red. About a month later I received a letter in the mail with pictures of me from about every angle imaginable running the red light. On the letter it said that I needed to report to court by the end of August or pay bail on the ticket. I did not plan on going to court, because clearly it was me in the 10 pictures taken of me running the red light. (making quite possibly the weirdest face I've ever made in my life, BTW!) The letter also stated that I would be receiving a courtesy notice in the mail to tell me how much the bail amount was. So when I received this courtesy notice, (which isn't the least bit courteous, if you ask me!) I was planning on paying for the ticket. Surprise, surprise the courtesy notice never arrived and I figured it was taking them a long time to get around to sending it. Fast forward to the end of October and I get a notice from the DMV saying that my license is going to be suspended for having an unpaid ticket. I call the courthouse and they say that the only thing I can do at this point is come into the courthouse and see if the judge will reduce my $751 (GAH!) fine. So I have this whole speech planned that I'm going to say to the judge about having a clean driving record, my husband is currently out of work, never received the courtesy notice, yada, yada, yada. I arrive at the courthouse only to find that there is no way that I'm going to be allowed to deliver some 2 minute speech to the judge. Along with about 50 other law breakers I just have to plead guilty, not guilty or no contest. Therefore I plead guilty and was ordered to pay a $300 fine and attend traffic school. Lesson learned, do not wait for a courtesy notice to arrive from the city of San Diego and no more running red lights while going to watch SYTYCD at Kara's house or otherwise.

poor you sister. that is a crappy situation. california is so rude when it comes to red light tickets. i know several people that have gotten them. they are super duper expensive. i wish you would post a picture of the red light running pictures. i want to see the weird face.
That stinks! I am so sorry!
this is not a funny situation, but i was laughing most of the way through. i think it was your funny commentary on your misfortune.
i bet they didn't send it on purpose so they could get more money out of you. i swear this place tries to suck all the money they can out of people since they are in such a mess themselves!
That is horrible!!!! I would have cried. The whole time.
I'm just relieved the judge didn't order you to wear a fluorescent vest and pick up trash along the side of the road.
UGH! THAT JUST TAKES THE WIND OUTTA MY SAILS. How Horrid. There has to be a better way.
Joce, I actually considered posting the picture of me at the red light but it's been through a lot of wear and tear, so it's kind of hard to see my weird face.
your mom cracks me up.
