My Granny

I have no idea how to use a scanner, so this isn't a great quality picture. This is me with my Granny about 10 years ago.

My Granny Davis passed away last night, she was 98 years old. Pretty amazing, right? She lived through the Great Depression. She was quite the storyteller. Her stories were often embellished, with lots of hand gestures and usually unintentionally funny. She was one of the happiest people I've ever known, always smiling and giggling. One of her favorite things to tell me was, "Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone." She was the type of person that would go up to anyone and talk to them.
When I was little I spent a lot of time in her house and still have dreams about that house all the time. I spent time in her garden playing with bugs. I spent time in her yard and loved her lilacs. I spent time on her back patio eating on TV trays. I spent time on her front patio jumping over her bushes. I spent time in her creepy, unfinished basement jumping on her little trampoline and playing with Cabbage Patch dolls. I spent time in her kitchen eating the waffles she would make us for breakfast or cleaning the inside of her cupboards. I spent time at her kitchen table playing Husker Du and checkers. I spent time in her bedroom playing in her jewelery and clothes, which I'm sure she wasn't too happy about! I spent time in her hallways vacuuming with her brown push vacuum cleaner that never really picked anything up. I spent time in her living room racing marbles on her wooden marble track and on her old yellow chair that had a white blanket on it that smelled like her. Most of all, she spent time with me and always made me feel loved. I will forever be glad that she is my Granny.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Granny. Please let me know if I can do anything for you!

P.S. We're going to the zoo tomorrow if you want to get out. I would love the company and I feel like I hardly ever see you anymore!
